How to make a QR code drinks and coffee menu

Drink prices change often, many drinks come in several sizes, and seasonal specials come and go. A printed card struggles to keep up. This guide shows cafés, bars and restaurants how to set up a drinks or coffee menu with a QR code.

Set up your categories

Group drinks by type so guests find what they want quickly. For example:

  • Hot coffee (espresso, cappuccino, latte, filter coffee)
  • Iced coffee
  • Tea and herbal tea
  • Cold drinks and soft drinks
  • Fresh juices and smoothies
  • Alcoholic drinks (if you serve them)

In QrConnector each of these becomes a category; reorder them by drag and drop, and guests switch between categories with one tap.

Sizes and prices

Instead of creating a separate drink for every size, add variants such as Small / Medium / Large or 0.3 l / 0.5 l, each with its own price. The menu then lists the variants under the drink.

In Germany, drinks served by the glass should show the serving volume next to the price; see the price-display section of the guide “From a PDF menu to a digital QR menu”.

Allergens on a coffee menu

Allergens appear in coffee and hot drinks more often than people expect. Common examples:

  • Milk: cappuccino, latte, hot chocolate and most milk drinks.
  • Soy or tree nuts: drinks made with soy, almond or hazelnut milk.
  • Tree nuts: hazelnut- or almond-flavoured syrups.
  • Gluten: some powdered mixes and malted drinks.

You can mark the 14 allergens for every drink. A drink with no allergens entered shows “No allergen information provided” on the menu, which does not mean “allergen-free”, so check unclear drinks with your team.

Where to put the QR code

  • On tables: one code per table, so guests open the menu from their seat.
  • At the counter and till: guests in the queue can choose before they order.
  • At the bar and in the window: for people who want to look at the menu before coming in.

Print the code at least 3 × 3 cm, ideally 4 × 4 cm, and avoid glossy surfaces and low-contrast colours.

Keeping the menu current

  • Change prices in the dashboard: the printed QR code stays the same and the menu updates at once.
  • Mark a drink as sold out when it runs out and switch it back on the next day with one tap.
  • Hide seasonal drinks instead of deleting them, and show them again when the season returns.
  • With Pro you can feature a new drink with a promo banner or story and translate the menu into your guests’ language.
